Sometimes You Should Retreat Before Pressing On

Before modern military tactics were developed, it was common for the General to move to an elevated position to observe the battle. Typically, soldiers fighting face-to-face with their enemy were so focused on survival that they lacked perspective on whether they were winning or losing until the battle was over. The General’s view, however, prompted adjustments to increase the likelihood of victory.

Bonnie Whyte is often referred to as the “glue of the office”.

 

In 1994, she ventured from her preschool teaching job into the world of finance and found her way with excellent references to the planners who founded IFG. Jokingly, she compares her current role helping advisors navigate onboarding, compliance and regulatory review to working in a pre-school; it’s just that in finance, the people are taller.

Bonnie has been CEO Don Patrick’s Administrative Assistant for longer than they both care to admit. Prior to financial services, she worked in the real estate and insurance industries. She’s a wife, a mom and a Gigi to some very adorable Grands on top of being excellent at keeping her finger on the pulse of the people at IFG.

Bonnie pictures the Integrated Financial Group as more than work; it’s a family headed by Don Patrick. And she embraces her roles as Office Mom and Head Cheerleader with a quiet confidence, tactful intuition, razor-sharp administrative ability, and a mean batch of Christmas cookies.

 

Needless to say Bonnie is all about the relationships—something that Integrated Financial Group does well. She notes that at the Brain Trust, the bottom line is always about the person-to-person interaction—not just about selling a product or offering fee-based financial services.

Bonnie says, “IFG is truly a collaborative work environment. There’s friendly competition, but our advisors share and care, too. You don’t find that many other places in this industry.”

My #2 accomplishment is coordinating our annual Toys-for-Tots fundraiser during the Holidays. We always do a company-wide potluck lunch with 2 Marines in attendance…the time spent is an absolute JOY!”
