Sometimes You Should Retreat Before Pressing On

Before modern military tactics were developed, it was common for the General to move to an elevated position to observe the battle. Typically, soldiers fighting face-to-face with their enemy were so focused on survival that they lacked perspective on whether they were winning or losing until the battle was over. The General’s view, however, prompted adjustments to increase the likelihood of victory.

From Past to Present: The People of Integrated Financial Group (Bonnie Whyte)

Friday, September 23, 2016

Integrated Financial Group would not be what it is today without the individual contributions of our members. As a collective of independent financial service professionals, we have successfully fostered a culture of sharing, caring and professional excellence that’s been in place for more than a decade. Read our collection of interviews ‘From Past to Present’, and learn more about the individuals who are the Brain Trust.

Bonnie Whyte is often referred to as the “glue of the office”.

In 1994, she ventured from her preschool teaching job into the world of finance and found her way with excellent references to the planners who founded IFG. Jokingly, she compares her current role helping advisors navigate onboarding, compliance and regulatory review to working in a pre-school; it’s just that in finance, the people are taller.

Bonnie has been CEO Don Patrick’s Administrative Assistant for longer than they both care to admit. Prior to financial services, she worked in the real estate and insurance industries. She’s a wife, a mom and a Gigi to some very adorable Grands on top of being excellent at keeping her finger on the pulse of the people at IFG.

The Whyte Family in 2016

Bonnie pictures the Integrated Financial Group as more than work; it’s a family headed by Don Patrick. And she embraces her roles as Office Mom and Head Cheerleader with a quiet confidence, tactful intuition, razor-sharp administrative ability, and a mean batch of Christmas cookies.

Needless to say Bonnie is all about the relationships—something that Integrated Financial Group does well. She notes that at the Brain Trust, the bottom line is always about the person-to-person interaction—not just about selling a product or offering fee-based financial services.

Bonnie says, “IFG is truly a collaborative work environment. There’s friendly competition, but our advisors share and care, too. You don’t find that many other places in this industry.”

FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING WITH IFG

“The PEOPLE! They make it a great place to come to work every day!”

BIGGEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT AS A MEMBER

“My #1 accomplishment is working closely with our administrative staff and LPL service teams. I’ve had the unique opportunity to lead and assist as we’ve grown, and now I help others learn from our process. My #2 accomplishment is coordinating our annual Toys-for-Tots fundraiser during the Holidays. We always do a company-wide potluck lunch with 2 Marines in attendance…the time spent is an absolute JOY!”

MEMBER WHO’S MADE THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON YOU

Don Patrick, her boss of 18 years. “Don has been wonderful to me and my family since Day One; it’s easy to work with someone who’s such a great guy.”
