Before modern military tactics were developed, it was common for the General to move to an elevated position to observe the battle. The Brain Trust Consortium Retreat 2014

Thursday, January 23, 2014 Bookmark and Share

Over 50 Consortium Members—LPL Financial and IFG Advisory, LLC financial advisors and staff—converged upon the Grand Hyatt Atlanta Hotel in Buckhead for our educational retreat held January 16-17th. Integrated Financial Group’s 2014 Consortium Retreat is considered to be the highlight for the year among our advisor members. It represents the essence of the Consortium—The Brain Trust.

Advisor presentations and panels throughout the two-day event focused on enhancing advisor communication skills through “storytelling.” The challenge advisors often face is sharing complex ideas in an easy-to-understand mode.

TAKING A MOMENT TO REFLECT

2012 was an exciting year for Integrated Financial Group.

We tackled a big brand 'refresh' project, joined Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and enjoyed the many personal and professional successes of our Consortium Members. Join us as we review the past twelve months, and look ahead to 2013.

1. LOOKING UP

For 2012, we focused on rethinking and retooling our practice in the midst of an uncertain economy.

2. ANNUAL CONSORTIUM RETREAT

We begin every year with our annual Retreat in Atlanta, where advisors from across the country have the opportunity to reconnect with peers, share ideas and plan for success. This year's conference was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Buckhead.

3. THE BRAIN TRUST

Since its inception, the Consortium has maintained a culture of passionate, independent financial advisors who support the notion that many minds are greater than one. We call this Consortium of expertise The Brain Trust. Altogether, we number 41 advisors and 28 professional support staff members.

4. WEBSITE BEFORE | PROJECT REFRESH

Early in the year, we began implementing a plan to refresh and refine our digital footprint.

5. WEBSITE AFTER | GETTING CONNECTED

It was exciting to rethink and retool our practice. As one of the nation’s largest independent financial planning consortiums, Integrated Financial Group’s network of LPL Financial Advisors and their firms provide practical, objective advice for today’s complex financial climate.

6. KAREN LEE TALKS MONEY

Atlanta-based financial professional Karen Lee continued to reach audiences beyond her practice with a new website launch, regular appearances on CNN Newsroom and a new monthly feature in Best Self Atlanta Magazine. Connect with Karen online at www.karenleetalksmoney.com.

7. ATLANTA LOVES DAVE RAMSEY

Atlanta-based Cindy Skaggs is a Dave Ramsey Endorsed Local Provider (ELP) for Investing and Long Term Care Needs. She attended Dave's 3-day EntreLeadership seminar and even scored an autograph! Learn more about Cindy and her financial planning practice at www.cindyskaggs.com.

8. FALL + FAMILY + FRIENDS

Don and Eve Patrick hosted their annual party for Atlanta-based Consortium Members in October. Mike Irvin made it memorable with some great tunes, proving he's good at more than just financial planning.

9. A WOMAN OF POWER AND INFLUENCE

Angie Rehkop had a banner year. Nominated by The Atlantan magazine as a Woman of Power and Influence, she's pictured here, on the right, with Ashley Trotter of St. Jude Children's Hospital, presenting a check for $23,500 from her annual Golf For The Kids fundraiser. 10. GROWING BUSINESSES IN SAVANNAH

We're proud of Consortium Members Seth Kovensky and Robin Cantrell of Live Oak Financial Services, who recently helped launch a new Business Network International (BNI) Chapter in Richmond Hill, GA. For more information about Live Oak Financial, visit www.liveoakfs.com.

11. ANNUAL TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE

We were honored to have Corporal Robert Jeff Rodriguez and HM2 Cagney Noland at our annual Toys for Tots Luncheon in Atlanta.

12. ENDING WELL

Despite Fiscal Cliff uncertainty, we've ended well. We were chosen as one of Atlanta's Top 25 Financial Planning and Advisory Firms, and had 15 Consortium Members named as FIVE STAR Wealth Managers. This award is based on 10 objective criteria associated with providing quality services to clients such as credentials, experience, and assets under management among other factors. Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or placed on the final list of 2012 FIVE STAR Wealth Managers.

Thank you to all our clients, family, friends and colleagues who have made this year so memorable. We're looking forward to continued excellence in planning for 2013, and wish you the very best for the coming year!

WHAT IS THE BRAIN TRUST?

In 2003, we had a groundbreaking idea. Why not create a culture where proven, independent financial planners have the opportunity to share expertise, premier office space and top-notch professional support staff while still maintaining their own private practices and specialized areas of planning?
