His professional focus is providing integrated financial and life management services tailored to each client's unique objectives. As a consultant for those preparing for or just entering retirement, John is committed to enhancing the financial and mental well-being of his clients. Prior to his career in the financial world, John gained valuable experience working as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). His professional counseling experience and extensive financial training support his genuine gift for guiding people through the complexities related to investment selection and money management. John received authorization from the CFP Board of Standards to call himself a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 1990. He completed his educational curriculum through the College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO. A graduate of Wichita State University with a BA in psychology, he received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Kansas. He has also completed several hours toward a masters degree in business administration. As a professional who's committed to lifting up the knowledge and ethics of industry peers, John is pleased to share insights and advice with younger advisors and participate at meetings hosted by the Financial Planning Association. He recently co-authored an article for Research magazine, a leading trade journal, on the topic of retirement income distribution strategies. John holds the following industry licenses: Series 6, 7, 22, 63 and 65. He is securities licensed in AZ, CA, CO, KS, MO, MT, NV, OK, TX, and VA. He holds an insurance license in each of the following states: AZ, CO, KS, MO, OK, TX and VA. A long-time resident of Wichita, Barton and his wife of 33 years are proud parents of two successful children. He is active in his church and community organizations, including the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas and American Baptists Foundation. ![]()
